What is Branch Rank?
Branch Rank measures how your listing fares against the median of the top performers in your vertical. Not "are you good?" - but "are you better than your competition?"
Formula (simplified)
branch_rank = (your_perf / branch_top10_median) × 100
At branch_rank=100 you are on par with the top 10% of your vertical. Above 100 you exceed them, below 100 you trail.
Sub-metrics
| Axis | measured by |
|---|---|
branch_title | WDF*IDF share of vertical-typical keywords |
branch_desc | depth + block structure vs. median |
branch_price | price corridor (too cheap looks cheap, too expensive = no click) |
branch_media | image-style conformity (white-cut electronics, lifestyle fashion) |
18 verticals, each with own DNA
We track 18 verticals - Fashion, Jewelry, Electronics, Lifestyle, Home, Beauty, Sport, Automotive, Hobby, Garden, Kids, Pets, …
Each vertical has its own sweet-spots:
- Jewelry: short titles (max. 80 chars), lifestyle shots dominant
- Electronics: long titles (180-200 chars), white background required
- Fashion: 13 tags + 5 materials (on Etsy), lifestyle mix
What helps
- Inject vertical-typical keywords (tool shows top-3 hashtags)
- Bring price into the corridor (tool shows green/orange/red range)
- Adapt image style to vertical norm
- Tonality: jewelry listings use different adjectives than electronics
